Richard is a Corporate Consultant and Chairman of SRK UK, with over 30 years’ international experience in the mining industry, specializing in mining project evaluation and due diligence. Richard is an experienced manager and team leader and whilst at SRK he has managed numerous large, multi-disciplinary technical studies and due diligence reviews of a range of projects, both underground and open pit, at the development and operational stage; and for a variety of commodities, including precious and base metals, bulk commodities and industrial minerals.

Strategic Partnerships on Critical Raw Materials in Central Asia – some Geological Perspectives

This talk will aim to:

  • briefly introduce the audience to some of the key strategic partnerships between producing countries of Central Asia and recipient countries outside of the region
  • discuss the range of critical minerals that are of interest and how these are changing with time
  • provide some examples of the critical minerals endowment of a selected number of the countries in the region
  • discuss the challenges for new and existing partnerships, balancing the requirements from recipients versus alternative options for supply
  • future strategies for developing and increasing strategic stocks via ongoing and new partnerships
